Five ways to bring joy

After a stormy week, for lack of  a better word to describe it…I thought to share with you five ways that you can bring back the joy spark into your life. the thing about joy, is that you can have it even when you are not happy or when you are going through a difficult patch of your life.

Joy can be describe a as a feeling of satisfaction or success in your life and sometimes it includes happiness…. and this post is actually to inspire you to create some happiness in your current situation.

1. Happiness is a journey and not a destination

Happiness is not a place to get to, it’s a way of a travelling and enjoying the journey. Often you promise yourself that you will stop and smell the roses, but you never do. You always live in the ‘not now’, which is a chief cause of unhappiness.DSC_0065.png

2. Having hope

Knowing that the situation you are in right now is not permanent and it will pass renews your energy and strength to fight on. It also can help you have a shift in attitude and perspective so that you are able to get lessons from a bad situation. Religion is a good place to obtain some sort of hope in life.

3. Be grateful

Say out loud three things you are grateful for every day. Gratitude is often referred to as the shortcut to happiness. The more grateful you are, the happier you feel.

4. Forgive

Everyone knows what it is like to experience disappointment or betrayal. But you can’t keep carrying a grievance and hope to be happy. Forgiving others and yourself releases you from the past and changes your future. Here is a little test you can do to asses whether you can forgive and forget.

5.  Love 

People who give time and attention to their most important relationships experience more happiness. Think about who you would like to spend more time with and have more fun with them…. In the same breath, don’t forget to be kind and nice to yourself as well. Look out for your mental health, physical wellness and any other form of wellness and surround yourself with people who do the same. I have a little suggestion of how to do a little self-care in this post.
